Situated on a hilltop (345 m. above sea level), Castiglion Fiorentino has splendid views overlooking the Val di Chio and Preappenines, silvery, up to a certain altitude, with beautiful olive groves. The strategic location near the Arezzo-Chiusi way and the connection between Val di Chiana and Valtiberina, enabled the growth of a residential complex in Etruscan times (VI-V c. b.C), till it became an important castrum in Middle Ages. The old town, overlooked by the Torre del Cassero and surrounded by the city walls, preserves its medieval structure along with valuable artistic and historical works dating back as early as Etruscan times. It is ideally located on the border between Tuscany and Umbria, making it easy to get to the main cities in central Italy. Tourists can also enjoy typical genuine cooking and find local organic produce, as well as a variety of craft products.
